My car makes a loud whiny noise when i try to put it in gear, wont move?

Mercedez Trabue: Yup

Bibi Tyron: Do you very own a voltmeter? This appears like a wiring problem. the clicking noise which you pay attention is in all probability the starter solenoid pulling in. seems such as you do not have adequate battery amperage to the starter to make it turn over. examine the voltage on the battery. you will possibly desire to meter between 13 and 14.5 volts with the main important off. Meter the voltage once you turn the main important, if it drops under 10 volts then you definately might desire to have a battery problem. could be a broken cellular. examine the voltage on the starter's valuable terminal. you are able to attempt between the terminal (usually valuable) and the physique (usually adverse). If the battery is sturdy and you do no longer see 12 volts on the starter then you definately've a wiring problem. available reason is the battery floor cable isn't tightly related to the physique or the battery submit. Did you sparkling the c! able ends once you replaced the battery? examine the top of the adverse cable related to the physique of the motor vehicle. Is it loose or corroded? in case you do no longer detect a difficulty with the adverse cable, examine the valuable cable. till now putting your wrench on any of the postive terminals, disconnect the adverse cable from the battery (for defense). If the battery is hooked as much as the physique and you touch your wrench between the valuable terminal and the physique, the battery might desire to explode. VERY undesirable....Show more

Sharee Doak: Yes, it is at least the clutch. Now the reason I say at least is that one time I bought a car that some one failed to replace the pilot bearing with the clutch. So the input shaft went out. With some luck that has not happened to you.Something to think about on this is when you have the clutch done- upgrade to a light weight fly wheel. This frees up some horse power for acceleration. I use a 10 lb with my 4! banger and you can tell the difference. I stayed with a full ! disk and it took some shopping to find a kit that I wanted to keep from having to buy individual parts. You at least need to make sure the glaze is broken on the current fly wheel and if you ran the clutch down this far, it might need resurfacing....Show more
