For example, when sea-level rises it produces a package of sediments that go from sands to silts to carbonates, and is termed a retrograde environment. This environment is opposite from a prograding environment where sea level is falling. None of this has anything to do with a child studies class, but then the name of this forum is Earth Sciences & Geology.
