answers 0:I recently quit my job (in Texas) during the probationary period, and I waited until a week after the actual payday to contact them and tell them to mail me my check. They said that it was applied to an unpaid balance (at a dental office, where I worked). That's not the problem I'm having. The problem I have is the fact that I asked them how much my check was (or should have been), and they wouldn't tell me. What can I do?answers 1:I would call them again and ask to speak to the dentist or office manager. Tell them that typically dentists do work on their employees for free and you want a copy of exactly what they charged you for, how much they charged you, and a copy of how much they owed you.You should calculate hours worked by the pay rate they agreed to pay you and then assume the amount is slightly less than that (due to taxes taken out of the check). Let them kno! w that it is illegal for them to not pay you. If they say you owe a balance to them for dental work then you should get a bill instead and your check and then you pay your bill. They can't just "take" money from your check. That sounds completely ILLEGAL.Let them know you want a bill and explanation for the charges AND your check for work done and you will pay them based on looking at the bill yourself. And tell them that if they don't follow the law and give you your check you will be forced to file a formal complaint against them with the state's labor board or attorney general's office for their failure to pay you for your hours worked. Tell them that this means someone from the state will dig through all their payroll for all employees and fine them if they are found guilty of not paying you for your work.If they don't send you a check I would call up the state attorney general's office and ask them who to contact to file a complaint against a past employer for not payin! g you for your work.Did they ever tell you that they were goin! g to charge you for dental work? It sounds like a bunch of bull that they took your money to pay a bill that should have never been charged to you! Dentists always do free dental work on their employees. Obviously because you quick they are now trying to go backwards and claim that you should pay for the work the dentist did. Which is completely illegal to agree to do free work and then try to charge you cause you quit.If they don't pay you then file a formal complaint against them with the state labor board!...answers 2:labor board they can't take your paycheck for services provided.answers 3:Ask for a copy of your paystubs... not a copy of your check.
