Mitchell Pickens: There is nothing good that can come from poetry.comIt does not count as any kind of publication credit, if you put it on your CV or mention it in your cover letter to a REAL publisher, you are basically putting yourself and your poems at a disadvantage that in all likelihood cannot be overcome. If you truly believed in your work being good, you wouldn't send it to poetry.com, you would send it to a legitimate publisher. In poetry, aside from dubious means, there are no fast tracks. And why should there be? You in a hurry? For what? The great pay? The glowing respect of your friends and neighbors? Most parents would rather see their child date a musician or actor before a poet! A good poet really ! doesn't hit their stride until they've been publishing in magazines for a good ten years. Psst, here's another thing too, most poets have day-jobs. Melvin Nakama: used to be 20 lines, so if it's 24 now, they expanded.Poetry.com is a scam though. They will publish everyones poetry, but they want you to pay like 60 bucks for a 20 dollar book, in order to see your work in a book.
